First Thirty: Assassin’s Creed II (PS3)
"Extra year"? These two systems are completely different pieces of hardware. You can't compare the time it took for both to come out.
One last thing, why hate? Sony makes games, Microsoft makes games, Nintendo makes games. Why not enjoy them all.
Plus it seems like everyother article you write has something about how much the PS3 sucks.
Thing is, another delay was probably necessary, truth be told, but was impossible because it woudl have given MS another Xmas holiday alone as the "hardcore" console of choice.
And then there's the games argument from above... even if there were games worth the $600+ buy-in for this system, how do you propose we enjoy them, given the FACTS presented in this post regarding the buggy controllers?
Truth be told, if you delay something a year, people have a right to expect that something, anything is being done behind the scenes to make the console work as close to 100% right out of the box. To believe otherwise is being ignorant -- either on accident or on purpose. Either way, get a clue.
You may want to settle down a little and reread this post. I think YOUR hate (or more likely insecurity) is forcing you to see hate where there is none. Your post smells like a knee jerk reaction.
At the risk of speaking for the original poster, I believe what was meant by "extra year" was not the year longer that Sony took in relation to xbox but rather the year they delayed from their initial launch projections which were initially late 2005/early 2006. They eventually firmed up a spring 2006 launch date which many speculated to be March, then delayed till late november. So technically one could argue that the "extra year" wasn't QUITE a full year, but if we assume Sony was not flat out lying about the spring 2006 launch projections (to keep people from buying 360s, which I believe they were) then you have to admit they had quite a lot of additional development time to nail this thing down.
All that being said, I happily own a Wii and I have had a couple of small Sync issues with my remotes as well. Gladly I didn't have to mess with any cabling to sort it out and it only happened the first day.
I could care less what you think and say my friend. Get a clue and get a life!!!!
They had the final hardware for over a year, it was the Blu-Ray that slowed things down, yall need to get a grip and be resonable.
"(...)for a more trouble free launch then the 360".
It's "THAN" not "THEN", moron !
so does PS3 and SONY
Also, what's the deal with having to reconnect the controller via USB to resync after every PS3 update. That shit is annoying as hell.
And another thing, downloads are slow. The network must be congested because it takes me over an hour to download a stupid 800MB demo on a Time Warner Cable Modem. The last 1.11 update took an hour to download.
I own both Xbox 360 and PS3. I'm not really a fan of either console, but I must say that I'm lovin the Xbox 360 wireless controller. So ergonomic, and I can choose to switch batteries if I want!!!! The Xbox 360 hasn't annoyed me as much as the PS3 has, and that's coming from a Microsoft hater. Gears of War is one of the best games out right now. It looks awesome and is fun to play. If you haven't played it yet, it's a must play.
As far as Sony is concerned, they have lied to their consumers countless times. I guess they think their consumers lack intelligence. Maybe they're on to something. I mean I still purchased a PS3 inspite of all the lies, and I knew the controller was going to suck.
but the controllers are working great for me. damn near everything in my house, especially around it, uses bluetooth... my powerbook, mac pro, razr, motorola headset, etc... no interference or issues.
to put this in perspective i also found another issue that had exactly one entry and 12 responses. it was "who's the narrator for the ps3 commercials."
you know how much time it took me to research this totally slanted and inaccurate posting? about five minutes. granted i only looked for forum headings that mentioned controller so a real journalist might find more but i hardly think 12 responses to one posting qualifies as "a buzz."
People love to hate Sony for the same reason they love to hate Microsoft: It's easy. Both companies constantly do things worthy of hate.
The Xbox 360 overheat issue brought plenty of hate and caused me (a real fanboy of the original Xbox) to wait a few months after the 360's release before I bought one. Even so, I wouldn't call it the most critical hardware issue in the history of game consoles. The DVD drive failures in both the PS2 and early model Xbox have to take that honor purely for the number of people affected.
You also seem to be misinformed about the demand for Microsoft's new products. Last time I checked, Zune wasn't selling worth a shit. Then again, I guess it probably is doing better than Sony's Digital Walkman line which was utter crap. Vista as well, I'm only moving to Vista because I was given an Ultimate license. Most people I know have no interest in Vista and will only move over when games like Crysis come out requiring it.
Regarding your concerns of the PS3 not being able to get its feet off the ground, as long as Sony can fix the current problems I think the PS3 will be a success, but it won't be another PS2. PS3 will not dominate this generation like its predecessors did in their times. This is a good thing, because it should cause some internal shuffling at Sony and refocusing of priorities in the gaming division. Next time around they'll have a more directed product that doesn't try to be everything at once and it will be much more likely to work right ON TIME.
Take a look for yourself:

It's also a single post and by login date and time, they never bothered to log back in and look for responses. Who posts problems about their console but doesn't bother to find out answers?
It seems we have a troll in our midst. I wonder who would stoop so low?
Either way, I do think this is a problem.
I think it likely that the 360 will be the champ this round (its early entry seems parallel to the ps2's lead last round).
The ps3 is a stunning piece of hardware, and there will be stunning software for it one day. With how long it takes to design and manufacture things, it is pretty hard to say if the Sixaxis is a rip off of the Wiimote. I've played a little of each, and it just doesn't seem core to the ps3 experience, it is a frill, like rumble when used on the ps3. With the Wii, the motion sensing is as key as the analog stick was for the n64.
This round seems like it should be more competitive than the last. No ps2-like domination is likely. Wii is attacking a different market.
I managed to step fairly far away from the Sixaxis glitch. Apologies. Should be interesting to see if the solution will be: firmware update, software update, or recall.
Thats THE SAME EXACT thing that happened to me during RFOM! Its so damn annoying! Happened for the first time on RR too... I've also had effects, like weapons fire vanish... not happy bunny atm. In fact I've given up on the gameOS and I spend most of my time in Linux on my PS3.
Here is the page for the PS3 Support
I am sure it will help you guys also,
